Frecuently Asked Questions Movistar Prepaid Portability
Movistar portability refers to any person in Colombia who wants to switch their mobile number to another operator. They can do so while keeping their same number, and by changing operators, they may receive various benefits.
- With Movistar prepaid portability, you can request your operator change easily from our website and choose from the different packages we offer.
- After validating your identity information, we will request your home address details, where the SIM card will be delivered. The delivery is completely free!
- Finally… Don’t forget to make the payment for the offer you selected.
- And that's it! Once you complete this process, the activation of your number with the new operator will take a maximum of 1 day after receiving the SIM card. What you need to do is remove the SIM card from your current operator (the one you will no longer use) and insert the Movistar SIM card. Now you’re ready to enjoy all our benefits!
Once you have received your SIM card, portability will take effect the next day. The delivery date depends on the department and municipality where you live.
- The number of the line you want to port.
- NIP Code: This code will be sent to your current number to validate your line against the ABD (this is the system used by all operators for this process).
- We will ask for information such as your full name, email address, mobile number, type and number of identification document, and issuance date.
- Remember to have your mobile phone with the SIM card you want to port inside because you will receive your NIP code via text message.

You can submit your Movistar portability request as many times as you want.
If you choose Prepaid Portability, you will keep your same number, but if you choose New Line, you will be assigned a new number.
